The Dept. of English at MIU arranged a Freshers’ Reception, Farewell, Get-Together, and Day-Long Seminar

The Department of English at Manarat International University arranged a Freshers' Reception for newly admitted students for Fall Semester 2022 and a Farewell for the students of the outgoing batch, as well as a Get-Together and a Day-Long Seminar titled "Viva Voce and Job Interview" for the old and new students in the department of both Gulshan and Ashulia campuses. The day-long program was held on October 4, 2022 (Tuesday) in the seminar hall of the university's permanent campus in Ashulia. At the end of the program, a wonderful cultural program was organized in the afternoon where the students of both campuses had their performances with songs, poem recitation, stage play titled "She Stoops to Conquer". On the occasion of this colorful event, the venue was decorated with colorful balloons, festoons, posters, and eye-catching designs. Ahmad Mahbub-ul-Alam, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, was the resource person for the seminar titled "Viva Voce and Job Interview", held in the first part of the program where Farzana Zaman, Associate Professor and Coordinator, presided over the seminar organized by the MIU English Club. Tasmia Moslehuddin, Associate Professor; Mohammad Nazmul Haque Shikder Shiblu, Assistant Professor; Md. Ehsanul Islam Khan, Assistant Professor; and others participated in the discussion hosted by Syeda Tartila Sanjida, Lecturer in English. Besides, Ashfaq Rahman, MIUEC president of Gulshan campus, and Alma Shorkar, MIUEC president of the permanent campus, spoke on behalf of the English Club. Later, the newly admitted students of the Department of English in the Fall 2022 semester were welcomed with flowers and gifts. The outgoing batch students were also given welcome mementos with crests. Finally, a colorful get-together and a cultural program were held with the old and new students. Dr. Nargis Sultana Chowdhury, associate professor and head of the Pharmacy Department, Dr. Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Associate Professor and Coordinator, Center for General Education; Rafiquzzaman, Head of Journalism and Media Studies Department; Md. Alamgir Hossain, Deputy Registrar and other students, faculty members, and employees of the department were also present.
